Neighborhood Improvement Matching Fund

Sponsored by the Ferguson Neighborhood Improvement Program (FNIP) Neighborhood Improvement Fund is a grant of up to $1,000 toward any eligible projects. Applicants must be eligible for the grant as outlined in the Neighborhood Improvement Fund Program Guidelines. Required attachments: (1) Detailed improvement project plan, (2) detailed budget showing incorporation of volunteer labor or matching funds already pledged from other sources as well as the FNIP funds (up to $1,000). Applications are accepted on a first come-first served basis; gifts are given until none remain.

I. Eligible Projects

Eligible projects include neighborhood improvement projects that are backed by neighborhood organizations, community leaders, business owners, and/or an established community organization within the City of Ferguson. Projects must increase the pride, distinction, and livability of a Ferguson neighborhood(s), and/or improve the appearance and value of individual houses.

II. Project Requirements

Qualified projects should have volunteer labor or some financial support pledged to the neighborhood improvement project already. All project applicants must attach a detailed plan for the improvement project, including a budget showing the incorporation of funds already pledged as well as the FNIP match. Projects using volunteer labor (materials only) are also possible and will be considered, without the organization providing matching funds. FNIP will give up to $1,000 to a project that is approved through this process.

III. Acceptable Uses of Fund

The FNIP Board will vote on the acceptable uses of the funds on a case-by-case basis. However, ideal projects include – developing a community garden, community gathering places, community wide clean-ups, neighborhood identification signs, block events, etc.

IV. Terms of the Fund

  1. The recipients will have six months from notification to spend or at least encumber the funds.
  2. The recipients agree that their names may be used for the purpose of publicizing the Neighborhood Improvement Matching Fund.
